Fragmented mirrored images gather in the mind.
Each a small vignette, a study, a perception
Of memories diffused through rose-colored lens; defined
By the ego’s skillful deceptive selection
Of the final chosen aspect: filtered, spun and refined.

The anguish-inflicting happenings of vanity,
With strobe-lit laser, the mind aborts or locks away.
Ego and id agree that exposing the raw profanity
Of unvarnished memories so long kept at bay
Will unleash the ravening demons of insanity.

"I am fascinated by the brain's ability to protect the psyche from traumatic, unacceptable or just unflattering memories."
