I especially like
"I'm only a novice,
Don't hold a degree
I write what I fell,
Just trying to be free."
I think this goes for all true writers.
Imagine if EE Cummings or Gertrude Stein followed the rules, rhymed perfectly, or had perfect cadence! We'd have lost out on the most inspiring literature of our time!
David, your rhymes do not need to be perfect. Your grammar does not need to be impeccable. You can write fur fun, out of love, or because you're sad. That's all well in good. But, be honest with me, knowing what you know, would you feel content if I told you that you've done a great job, even though your fore mentioned errors stand out like a sore thumb? Wouldn't you want one of your peers to point it out to you? I know I would! I think you get my point.
You keep doing it. This skips along nicely. It also sums up what we are all about.
Maybe we won't win prizes, but that's not what it's all about.
We write because we need to. Of course praise from our peers counts a lot. That little red 'N' that tells you that someone has taken the time to read our offerings.
Of course the BIG plus is the friends we make and the help we receive. A true joining of minds.
Well done and thank you,
Brian.
I agree with Jean, all of your poems are little pieces of daily life and are wonderful. If we're not real and write what we feel, then we lie to ourselves because life what we make it. Congrats on another job well done David and thank you for everything you do!
I always think of your poems as little 'slices of life'. Sometimes they make me laugh, sometimes they make my cry and sometimes they make me think. What they have never made me is sorry that I read them......,
Jean
