Little Spider
by David Pekrul
copyright 07-03-2005

Age Rating: 7 to 127

Little spider on the wall,
The bestest spider of them all,
Wish that we could be good friends,
For I would like to make amends.

Little cousin Daddy-Long-Legs,
Was a mother and she laid eggs,
But she made me really giggle,
Pulled her legs and watched them wiggle.

Momma said that wasn’t nice,
And I should take her good advice,
To leave the spiders all alone,
And for my sins I must atone.

So now I’m asking you to see,
I was a kid out on a spree,
I didn’t mean to give you fright,
But I was such a little tyke.

Little spider in the basement,
Running free with no encasement,
I will leave you all alone,
And hope you really like my home.

I think I found a new Author to read to my children from. It is a new style to a old way. Great write, I love it, good job.

A wonderful children's poem. I like the rhyming and the care-free manner in which it was written. Spiders are not my favorite type of creatures, but they are fascinating, mysterious and intelligent. I just don't understand why children like them so much! One would think they would be horrified by them.

Yes, you reminded me of my somewhat antisocial personality disorder, too. Our kick was pulling off the heads of fireflies or smearing them on the ground with the bottom of our feet to see their irridescent glow spread wondrously' it was so coool! But I have atoned and I think I've grown up.

I love the way the poem is written well and still sounds like you are a five year old...It reminded me of my 4 year old grandson (I know, I know). He is going through the fascination with insects stage and will follow one chatting away to it all the way down the sidewalk. He is especially fascinated with spiders (oh joy)and is forever dragging me off to "come see Gramma, come see"...and even knowing that spiders help keep destructive insects under control...all I have to say is I really, really, really, don't care for them...I am glad that someone else does, now I don't feel so guilty.

I hope they all like your house. I'll give the ones at my place your address! If we could just get the roaches to eat the spiders! LOL This is a funny one, Anthony

This is a cute poem. But---if you lived in Arizona and there were black widows and trarantulas and other very venemous, would you feel the same?
