Angel Of The North
by Doreen Reynolds
copyright 08-05-2005

Age Rating: 7 to 127

The Angel has landed, it came with a bang
Or, should I say, it came with a clang
It stands on a hill and it faces the South
It has a face but it has'nt a mouth
No-one seems to know what it's meant to say
Some people wish it would just fly away
Controversy rages, is it good, is it bad
All I can say is he's a real big lad.

This statue was erected in 1998.

Isn't it interesting to watch the faces of the viewer as they look upon a piece of art for the very first time? I love that...watching their expression (trying to read their features) as much as the object itself for drawing their attention...positive or negative.

My small town has recently acquired our first city square attraction - sculptures (Bears). They are done in iron and people don't know what to make of them as...we don't have bears in our area.

I enjoyed the poem!

I liked the rhyme and meter in this piece and it sounds like a very interesting piece of art you are depicting. Take care and Have fun. Steve

You've spiked my curiosity. Is this a real statue and would there be info about it on the Internet?

I have not seen this one, but I have seen a lot of "Modern Art". Sometimes I wonder about what it is supposed to depict. I guess if it looks good to the one that bought it...thats all that matters! Thanks for your thoughts on this one, Anthony
