What a Let Down!!!
by M.E. (Bunny) Eastveld (Age: 54)
copyright 09-22-2001

Age Rating: 18 to 127

Well, it's over...
the big day....
I am now the 6 million dollar rabbit!

Very little fanfare..
a whole new world of pain,
now having to exercise ad nauseum,
to get this leg going again.

Funny thing is..
I think my new knee is better than the old one,
although I've only had it a week,
and it hasn't been put through
the Bunny torture test as yet.

I've become a couch vege, between exercises.
Since I feel the term "couch potato" has been grossly overused,
I prefer to call myself a "couch okra",
Just call me Okra Gimp Knee.

I'm learning to walk, the new knee is quite stable,
the old one,
however,
keeps threatening to collapse
(at the most inopportune of times),
(have you ever fallen into a toilet??
butt first, of course AND sober?)
leading me to believe that I haven't seen the last of knee problems, yet.

Hopefully, I've got the sports model....I don't really want to go through this again,
unless REALLY necessary.
Although the right knee, if it doesn't smarten up..

I chatted briefly with my right knee in the hospital..
It's not keen on being replaced, either..
But it IS jealous over all the attention the left gets...
So, it collapses and pains me like the left once did.

They say it'll be 3 - 6 months before I'm back in the saddle again....
I say 6 - 8 weeks.
Stay tuned to find out who's right on this one!!

LOL! Reading such a piece long enough after it's been posted allows for also reading some wonderful and funny comments too. Thanks for the laughs, Bunny, and I hope by now things are going even better and that Mr Right Knee is more helful these days...
Nan
Oh PS... okra, huh... have you gotten slimey yet?

If someone left the seat in the male "up" position, I'm almost skinny enough that if you flushed you'd find me in the river. That water's cold, eh, Mary??? CL..I'm not sure you could beet that garden lady (YUCK) maybe we should have a challenge about writing a poem or story (fiction or non) about the twenty vegetables we love and hate. BTW:Pam, sorry I missed thanking you for reading. My only excuse, "I'm on medication" Bunny

At least you have a knee replacement to blame for that toilet incident. I can only say I was too preoccupied to notice my three year old was in there before me and left the seat up. Grr. :)

Thanks, for your well wishes and clever responses. Betty, I may have to have a talk with you Re: your verbal salad (punny, funny...)and CL! Okra Gimp Knee sounds like someone else currently on TV...so sue me!!! Thanks, David. I actually made it out of the hospitalon my 4th day post op (usual stay is seven days, sometimes more, yuk) Karen, while I was in there I had a personality transplant too. Well, lets see what the New Bunny can do with her rapier wit sharpened and her caustic humor causing Drano to shrink back in respect!! Thanks again to all of you. Robert...I'll try not to push it..I know I can wreck things that way!! Bunny

~~laughing over Betty's puns as I groan~~ =o)

Your wit and sense of humour was a great way to express how the surgery went. Glad to hear it all went well and laughing over the jealous right knee! Keep on recuperating! (and from one horse woman to another....don't you hate those directives "you can't ride until..." ya ya, blah blah blah) **wink**
