Note: This was a chant/movement piece that I presented to my 'A' school graduating class in Great Lakes, IL. Hoo-Rah, in the United States Navy, is a way of expressing joy, like "Hurray". This was performed on the USS Whitehat at 7:45 AM on the day of my graduation. If you're not familiar with Navy terminology, this isn't going to make a whole lot of sense. The background is a steady 6 count beat (except for the parts with the **).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here I am sittin' at Seaman ATD
The best that ever was
And the best that ever will be
10 days ago I was still recruit steppin'
But now here I go
Away to fleet heaven
Spent so long in the shadow of doubt
Forgot what being a Sailor was all about
Honor, courage, commitment and more
Time come to double time out the trainer door
**I'm assumin' you all know how this go, right?**
Let me see ya clap to the left, clap to the right, let me see ya clap both sides, you're out of sight.
Let me see ya stomp to the left, stomp to the right, let me see ya stomp both sides, you're out of sight.
Let me hear ya bark to the left, bark to the right, let me hear ya bark both sides, you're out of sight.
Let me see ya slide to the left, slide to the right, let me see ya slide both sides, you're out of sight.
**Can I get a HOO-RAH??**
Whole class: HOO-RAH!!!
