For my extended family at PnP
by Brian Dickenson (Age: 73)
copyright 07-20-2005

Age Rating: 7 to 127

I love my cup of coffee in the morning.
Drinking it, while droopy eyed and yawning
Connecting through the Internet
To P-n-P, the best site yet.

Checking out my own home page.
See if my writings all the rage.
Those purple bands that say it all,
Read the comment, make the call.

Words come tumbling from my brain,
Life will never be the same.
Before I used to write for me,
Now I write for all to see.

Not that I always get it right.
Sometimes rubbish, is what I write.
But hopefully, just now and then,
Something good comes from my ‘pen’,

Poems, stories, novels too
I’ll do them all before I’m through.
Maybe even write a song,
Hope PNP will sing along.

I’ve so much more inside my head,
I’d love to write it, before I’m dead.
But if by chance, I don’t succeed.
I hope at least, I’ve planted a seed.

Very touching poem, seriously! It is great here on PnP isn't it? This site has many great writers and you are one of them! I'm not though, the only decent thing that I can write is my name, lol! No, I can write stories too. This site is full of friendly people and you are one too, Great write,
Tasha^^

A well-done sentimental poem. I believe your work has touched on a desire everyone has: to be remembered after they have passed from the mortal plane. Even though I do not know you very well, I am glad a writer of your caliber is a member of this site. No major grammar errors (aside from a couple missing hyphens) that I see and flawless spelling... your experience shows.
You created another fine poem and deserve every point for this touching work!

I hope you create many more excellent pieces like this one!

Brian...you know that I am so glad that you continue to write about your life and thoughts in story and poem....As long as you continue to write, I know that we will all continue to read. You are a pillar here at PnP and one of the reasons I keep coming back. You are so right in thinking that it is like a second family here, a family with shared interests and open hearts and minds...Thank you for being you, Jean

Very nice. I liked the last part where you talk of planting a seed. All of us here at PnP plant seeds of ideas for other people to see. Even when we are long gone, those seeds will still be growing. Every word we write affects the people reading them for the rest of their lives. Often in small ways, and sometimes in big ways.
And since everyone is affected by our words, everyone they will ever meet in their lives will also be affected in some way, even though they will have never read the words for themselves.
Cause and effect:Throwing a pebble into the ocean may eventually cause an earthquake on the other side of the world.(The pebble would disturb the water and raise the water level slightly, the disturbed water may interact with something else, that something else may put a slight pressure on a techtonic plate, and that plate may shift and cause an earthquake)
This example is a little extreme, but I think you understand what I'm trying to say.

Love your page, please keep getting bored.....lol.
I will dig out a picture of me and put it on.
I'm vain enough to cheat and enter an old one,,,lmao.
Einstein eh! I'm flattered.
Love you all, Brian

Brian, this is a wonderful poem. You and P-N-P have brought me back to writing. I enjoy the friends I have made here and hope to keep these friendships for a long time. I wanted to put this with your poem and I hope you don't mind.Like your title...

For My Extended Family at P-N-P

I Know that it is not needed,
that I say, "You are beautiful."
For you are probably fully aware of that fact.
But in case you are not,
I should say,"You are most beautiful."
And I am proud to call you all, my friends!

See what my boredom made me do :(

I'm always looking for your work online; sorry if I have missed any. I think I'm going to start checking everyone older works to see what I have missed. I usually read only poems, mostly because of time constraints, but I'm going to start looking at stories more often.

Thank you Debra Rose, it's from the heart.
However, never forget how much you are valued here at PnP.
Brian.

You've already succeeded, and planted millions of seeds for all to see. I can tell you...you, Anthony, David, Andrew, and so many of the others here are probably, not just the best writers, but the best people I've had the pleasure of knowing through this site!
