Hey all! So we've made it to the third regular input of CoW, and I have to say, thank you for reading! This week was a bit of a struggle to put it up, because I haven't been working on it as often as I should, but I hope it's enjoyed all the same. Tell me what you think, and make sure to comment on the works. Remember...the more you comment on these works, the more likely I am to see and read, and probably feature your works. And nominations for potential features are always wescomed. HAPPY READING!
Theme This weeks theme is stories and books. Now, don't go running, the ones I've chosen I chose for a reason. Both are easy reads, both are entertaining, and both deserve your attention and are accessible for reads by nearly all ages.
Talk about a man of dense nature. Taking the Darien everyone knows and loves, and putting a bit of a...twist...on him, Jenna's book is an easy, but hilarious read, and will have you in tears by the time you read the first few paragraphs. Who knew cabbage could be so funny? (Age Rating: 10-127)
Be ready for tears. This is a true story of a woman on her death bed, and the loving hand of the author, soothing her in her last moments. Inspired by Roger Crique, Jean not only gives a heart wrenching, beautiful tale, but a wonderful tribute to both her own experiences, and the woman who died with her at her side. Another one that classifies as one of my personal favorites. (Age Rating: 10-127)
The first lines of this magnificent work draws you in, giving a chilling tale that seems to come from the heart of this wonderful dark poetess. There really are no words that can properly explain her work, except that I hope I manage to get an autograph before she's famous (Age Rating: 10-127)
Normally, I don't do love poems, but this one is, without a doubt, the closest to perfect I've seen. Short, sweet, but melodic, it's mingled with saddness but hope, and a deep love that makes you just want to smile. (This is definitly classified as one of my favorites!) (Age Rating: 1-127)
This poem had me on the edge of my seat until I reached the end, where I wound up in stitches at the irony. This is not just a beautifully written tale, but an interesting of view of just what the blackmarket can sale in other countries(Age Rating: 10-127)
This is a beautiful mix of imagery and heartache, intermingling splendid allusions to hell and the chill of winter, with the desolation of a broken heart. (Age Rating: 10-127)
I won't lie...I am one for political zeal, especially on a topic that I agree with. Packed with wisdom and a warning I believe needs to be heeded, "Beware the Censors!" (originally debuted in June of 2003) is a work that questions modern day stifling of speech in everything, and questions...have we gone to far?
(Age Rating: 7-127)
Debuting in July of 2003, "An Initiation" is a magnificent peace of poetry. Unique in it's very outline and make up, it is something I wish I could see more of. Her style of writing is something that stands out as purely magnificent, and the tale she weaves is a far too true and enchanting one. (Age Rating: 13-127)
