Amid the sunlight’s fighting flare,
I took the time to stop and stare.
Upon the mountains’ top I did see
What my life has come to be.
One step closer I am at the edge,
Resisting the time when I take death’s pledge.
I reach for the hope of heavens’ place,
Gifted with the love given in grace.
What if’s and could have been’s make their rants,
Taking away from the stories life grants.
I will miss my family, to none they compare,
If only I had a little more time to spare.
But life in the end is a splendid thing,
Given the grand chance to wake from this fling.
I pray in hope that is sometimes lost,
That the faith that I keep is well worth the cost.
And as I close my soul’s eyes over futures past,
I will know at that moment His love did last.

I see someone that wishes life wasn't so short but is most grateful for all they had in life and is ready to go home(to heaven)another beautiful piece. Amanda
just as we don't remember anything before we were born we wont remember anything of before we were dead and born again not reincarnation -born again into heaven. In my humble opinion anyway.
I like this, too, especially the first half, which I like better than the second. You create a nice descriptive image of looking out over a wide vista, which is appropriate to someone looking over their life. I would have liked a little more imagery to continue to the end.
This is very inspirational and written in such an inwardly reflective manner that you know the author has come to peace with himself and has reaffirmed his beliefs....This is written in such a quietly thoughtful manner it leaves the reader with a sense of serenity regardless of what their own personal beliefs may be. Your terminology and turns of phrase are exceptional and fit with the tone and rhythm of this poem very well...An exquisite write.
