Meeting and marrying my second wife, Jean.
by Brian Dickenson (Age: 73)
copyright 07-24-2005

Age Rating: 16 to 127

This was written many years ago. We were still married then.

Jean, a dream?
No! Reality.
Will love last this time?
A case of wait and see.

We met one night,
Two strangers in bar,
She said she had a problem.
No petrol for her car.

A knight in shining armour me?
Would to the rescue spring.
Guiding her out to my parked steed,
Intent to have a fling.

Within my boot a petrol can;
Complete with pouring spout.
Gladly did I offer it.
My thoughts; were up her clout.

Back into the bar we went.
To dance the night away.
Murmuring sweet nothings;
Like shall we go out to play?

We finished back at my place.
Later on she said.
"For eight long years I was married,
but never knew that could happen in bed".

And so it went,
Love sweat and tears,
I full of happiness,
She full of fears.

We're married now,
For better or for worse,
We earn the money.
I hold the purse.

We are happy, I guess?
Or so it seems.
So why, why, why,
Do I still have these dreams?

Lots of depth here in this rhythmically smooth- written piece. The human being exposed, and I speak for myself here. No matter how many of my dreams are fulfilled, I'm always hungry (greedy for more).

Great piece -I think we all can relate -at least the male species!

The last line was great -the eye-opener delayed.

Bravo!

I sense some healthy, honest doubt, here, though it's of utmost importance-- no matter how much one wants to resist-- to have an honest relationship, founded on love and respect, than a sham one, based on preconditioned ideas of unrealistic and idealistic bliss. I really related.

This reminds me of the sentiments in the Johnny Cash song:
"We were married in a fever,
Hotter than a pepper sprout,
We've been dreaming about Jackson,
Ever since the fire went out."

Thanks for sharing.
