The Blue Lion
by Rissa T. (Age: 17)
copyright 07-27-2005

Age Rating: 1 to 127

He sits there now
gathering dust
till when, somehow
I still need his comfort.

The king of the toys
I gave him a crown.
He checked each noise
from under my bed.

So I gave him a place of honor
among the best of the best
He used to boast I was his owner
and I used to boast he's my friend.

He is a comfort to me
as he always has been
To my child I'm sure he will be
her best friend.

Well, he actually is a blue lion...my favorite toy from when I was young. When I'm older (35-40?) I plan to adopt a baby girl. Thats how I know. ^_^

Thanks everyone!

This is a very good poem. It is written with an air of mystery. I've read it three times and I sense that there is more to it than what I've read. To check every noise from under your bed was an interesting sentence. The fact that the lion is blue could indicate that it's a sad little lion. And, who is the speaker here? How does the speaker know that she's going to have a daughter, because I assume that the speaker is to young to have a child! Overall I think that it is an excellent poem, it leaves the reader with lots of questions and there is nothing wrong with that!

he only thing I have from my childhood is my rag doll, Alena. She was my best friend, just like the lion was yours.Keep up the good wrok.

I always used to think of my stuffed animals as guardians...good work!

Yes if you save it for her, she will treasure it just as you have! This is a sweet bit of prose. Thank you, Anthony
