Words
by Brian Dickenson (Age: 73)
copyright 07-28-2005

Age Rating: 7 to 127

Fingers poised above my keys,
Waiting for inspiration.
Brain not working, nothing coming.
Cerebral constipation.

Sometimes the words rush through my head,
Then Niagara Falls is flowing.
I normally have a lot to say,
But now maybe, it’s going.

Could it be a mental glitch?
A synapse not quite firing.
I sit and ponder on my words.
For once I find it tiring.

But in the end I know I’ll win,
I just hate to quit.
I feel the last line surfacing:
And this my friends, is it.

This is a very great poem. It doesn't have a lot of rhyming in it. But I like it so much. The words are really well and the poem has it's own mean nice poem.

Hi Brian. I just wanted to say how really cute I found this piece! I hate those periods I go through, when it feels like I don't have a creative bone in my body. And sometimes those periods go on a lot longer than I care to admit! But then the levee breaks and it all comes rushing in. What a creative way you put it!

Well, I should say that's definitely turning a negative situation into a positive one. And I see you went on the write many more excellent poems. I think the art of poetry is having nothing to say, but saying it well, lol.

Well-written as usual,

Rich

how funny, if this is writer's block for you I would love to see it in full effect. Really funny, sorry I really do know how frustrating it can be to have this problem I can't even write it it's so funny. But I really can't tell you that I feel sorry for you even if I really tried to> I can't stop laughing out loud! lol

"Cerebral constipation" is great! The last line just stops and fizzles quick as if to show that, unfortunately, this is it-- all you've got for today. Anyway, KEEP AT IT!

Love and loss are the two most popular themes to write about. That includes the loss of inspiration. Mine is titled,"Loss Of Words". We all have this feeling sometimes in our writing history. Yours was also fun to read, Anthony

I know how you feel! T'is also the same feelings and frustration for when you can't seem to draw. Artists and writers block are the worst. Cerebral constipation has to be the best way to describe it.

Brian, I know the feeling, in fact, I'm sure we all do. Sometimes the urge to write something is overwhelming, but we draw a blank. Just mellow out, something will come. (like the poem you just wrote).

Check out my poem on the same subject "The Words Are Gone" http://www.prose-n-poetry.com/display_work/14644

I think you made an "oops" on this line:
"I normally have a to have a lot to say,"
