The Stairs
by Caitlin M. (Age: 16)
copyright 07-29-2005

Age Rating: 1 to 127

Slip down them
Fall down them
Throw things up them.
Run up them.

See my favorite toy is unique.
It isn't a barbie.
No no, not a video games!
My very own stairs in my house.

Now it sounds quite stupid.
So I'll tell you why.
I can hurt myself on them,
it's an excuse to miss things!
When I'm mad at somebody,
I'll just throw something at them from above.

Mad at your parents?
Go up the stairs.
Give them the finger.
Then lock yourself in your room!
Oh, what fun it is!

The stairs are also perfect for depression.
Whenever you fall down your most likely
to laugh till you almost cry.
Well if your me.

The stairs, not just something in a house.
The stairs, my favorite toy.
The stairs, maybe my true love.
The stairs, something I wish to always have.

This could be like a metaphor for life. Your whole life is the walking up stairs. If you don't keep your movement forward you will regress down the stairs and that regression could come as a fall. Every step you do take gets you farther in life and the higher up the staircase the better the view. Giving them the finger could refer to the masses that tell you the wrong advice and you show defiance by expression. The locking yourself in your room could be the many who don't listen or that find themselves shut out of the rest of the world. This looks like a simple poem, but it could be very complex. Good for thought, Anthony

No I got it wrong again, okay, this is how it should read:a vedio game: not a vedio games or perhaps the "a" is the misprint, I don't know.

And I meant a vedio games not vedio a games.
Sorry my mistake.

That is quite a unique toy.
However, I think you meant video a game not a video games, and "Well if your me." your should be you're. Keep up the good work.

SamiJo
