*claps her hands together lightly* Yet another piece of art to fill my eyes with. I am pleased to have the ability to read such wonderous and marvolous things. We all often find ourselves asking the same questions that you have put so clearly in your poem...but it seems they always go unanswered. Great write Anthony..
I like the poem, though I tend to be a bit more pessimistic at times. I'm not sure "Life" has a purpose other than being aware, true to oneself and not hurting others in the process. (I'm reading Hamlet now, as one could guess). I'm not sure how I would approach this contest, but it will be interesting to see what others write.
This is a question that I have asked myself so many times...it's what's actually put me onto the path that I'm on now. I believe that life is a process of learning...of becoming enlightened, learning humility, selflessness...learning to take joy in doing good rather than receiving praise. To feel the pleasure of being the anonymous benefactor. To not only be at peace with yourself, but to learn to live within your morals (and first understanding what those are), and existing in a fashion that not only takes care of you, but leaves a permanent, positive mark on the world, that is beneficial to ALL, with no intention of hurting anyone for any reason. To overcome the greed of money, and to do things, without thought of monetary gain, but instead of simply with the soul intention of doing good.
I believe that to live is not just to lead a life that is fulfilling for yourself, but to make sure that you manage to leave soemthing behind to help others fulfill themselves as well.
I also believe that we are put here to learn to feel joy and love, feel joy, and trust as a child unscathed by the harsh world, but to also act with the cautious knowledge of old age. To trust others to be who they are, and expect no more, and trust yourself to be more than you have proven to be, and to expect no less.
I believe life is joy.
And I believe this comment is way too long.
Thank you for writing this. Lately, I've been having second thoughts about some plans I had in the future...you made me realize just why I want to do it again. Thank you.
This is good, and with so many truths. Yes we will not only take our knowledge with us, but we will have much more, and have all the answers to our questions. The Bible says, "For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face; now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known." (1Cor.13:12)
