Lord

Help me to be willing, Lord.
Give me courage, give me strength.
To be more forgiving,
to everyone, at any length.

Help me to be willing, Lord.
Even though, I might not like it.
To do your will everyday,
even if I try to fight it.

Guide me down your narrow path, Lord.
And if I start to stray.
Bring me back to where you are,
for you're the only way.

When I'm being tempted, Lord.
Take me by the hand.
Walk me through the darkness,
so next to you I'll stand.

Help me to believe, Lord.
That through your love and grace.
The blessings, that lie ahead,
will never be replaced.

I pray for hope and faith, Lord.
That if I do what's right.
The happiness I'm looking for,
will be within my sight.

And when my life is through, Lord.
There's one last thing I pray.
When I awake, I'll see your face,
and in your loving arms I'll lay.

Rene, this is absolutely fantastic. You deserve more that five points. Your love for the Lord shows through in such splendor. Thank your for sharing your faith. It has touched my heart and I know it will be a blessing for many others.

Please keep writing.

Another nice poem. I'm going to email a lesson on metrical feet and metres. Take the first two or three stanzas and work with them. This poem is perfect for that exercise. Rene, there is nothing wrong with this. I just want you to start thinking in terms of poetic form.

Hi, Rene, in your third stanza, "for your the only way." Your should be you're. It is a beautiful and hopeful prayer, done with much faith and conviction, much like those psalms and songs of David!
