Dying Inside

  Dying Inside

What in her life could be so bad,
To cause her to act this way?
To sit alone in emptiness,
And watch her hopes decay.

Unable to offer a friendly cheer,
When someone says, "Good-Day",
Not caring to simply say "Hello",
She sends them on their way.

I wonder what hurt she's holding in,
That keeps her locked inside,
Instead of trusting that life goes on,
She sits in her 'prison' and dies.

A life of self-pity and bitterness,
A life of hurt and pain,
She pushes away the friends she had,
And tells them they're to blame.

A spiritual cancer that eats the soul,
And leaves an empty shell,
It destroys the things she once held dear,
And traps her in this 'hell'.

And then one day, she fades away,
And no one seems to care,
She lies in a distant, unmarked grave,
But no one remembers where.

This a such a tragic poem. It's really very sad when people hold on to somethingbad for so long that it turns them into a truely bitter person.

very good it flowed all the way through except for the part where it said "this Hell" i think it might flow better if it said "her hell" or something otherwise i would say it was perfect. but what do i know i dunno

A sad story that is way too common in todays hurry up attitude. Well written, Anthony

I think there's a lesson for all of us here.

this such a good and sad poem!

Stunned Silence! Brilliant, absolutely brilliant! The passion and desperation felt while reading this poem hurts to the core. So many of us are destined there, to a place of denial, confusion or mental sickness, that one can only hope that when our time comes, we can depart with dignity and grace. There is a place called, "The Zone," most great athletes know of it. For poetry, I call it, "In Touch," You are definitely In Touch, lately! One question, who is the woman in the picture?
