The Rainbow
by Deone Wiley
copyright 08-15-2005

Age Rating: 13 to 127

The beauty of your smile
Formed a rainbow in the sky.
I learned to love, in your naivete,
The beauty of your smile.
We found love along the way.
How could I then deny
The beauty of your smile
Formed a rainbow in the sky.

One of the few things we cannot fake is a smile, for if we do, we appear fake and plastic. The rainbow is a promise that the rain would cease. This whole poem is beautiful in content and in words chosen. Love may come into our lives and then decide to walk away, but To deny that the smile of the one we loved was our motivation for our smile defeats the whole purpose of falling in love. Beautiful and well-written poem.

I will admit, I stumbled on this one a little. What form is a tercet in? I'm not sure I'm familiar with it. Your rhyme scheme was rather wonderful in this.

"I learned to love, in your naivete"

That is one of the lines I really liked in this. I think that's the part that made me fall in love with this poem :)
