Freedom ( Of Speech )

  Freedom ( Of Speech )

Cindy Sheehan has a right,
to say what ever she will.
We live in a country that allows,
her voice to be heard still.

She lost a son in this war
and wonders if we can win.
Or if the death of her son,
will be in vain in the end!

I was not eager for the fight
and hoped to find a peaceful way out.
Now that we are there, we should stay.
Leaving sends the wrong message, no doubt.

If they think, they ran us off,
they might come over here again.
Stronger because they feel they have won
and all hell, will break out then.

Its better to finish what we started,
than to leave things unfinished and undone.
Help them to get everything going,
a better chance for the freedom they've won.

We can't back down to the tyrants,
or they will continue trying to rule.
Sending out assassins for the innocent.
Strap a bomb on the back of a fool!

Unfortunately some of the soldiers die.
Their family's left alone to grieve.
They entered the service to protect freedom
and to stand up for what they believe.

Though sad, dying on the battlefield,
They have won just by standing to fight.
You cannot really be a free man,
unless you do what you know is right.

So I'm sorry that it has started,
and for those whom don't return, we send.
To stop now would be inviting trouble,
so we better see it through to the end!

First off, thank you for your praise on my work.
Wow, that is on the mark, man. I couldn't agree with you more if I had wrote it myself. I think the structure is great and word choice portrays the right emotions. Thank you for the welcome and the read. Jason

This is a noble sentiment, but I get the feeling that this war is turning into another Vietnam, and we all know how that turned out. Let's just hope it is over soon and we can all get a little normalcy back in our lives.
Good write; couple spelling errors: 'dieing' should be 'dying'
"There family's" should be 'their'.

I believe that every individual who has lost a loved one has the right to ask why. Why do our loved ones continue to die for a cause not yet feasible. Is it right for anyone of us to give up our loved ones for the sake and freedom of other people who do not care whether we live or die? Our President's famous answer to concerned parents is the same, "we must stay the course..." or "Iraq is a free nation, now..." I guess that's a great trade off! My child for your freedom! What have we accomplished? That's my question! I owe you points, Anthony, my tank is almost empty.
