Does Anyone remember a show called 'The Girl From Tomorrow'. It was made in Australia in 1990-1992.
I just received the dvds in the mail and watched them again. I really like that show. There were two parts, with 12 episodes per part for a total of 24 episodes.
It involves a girl named Alanna from the year 3000 who is kidnapped by a man named Silverthorn who is from the year 2500. He brings her to the year 1990 where she escapes and gets into all sorts of trouble as she adjusts to such a 'primitive year'.
By the end of the first 12 episodes, she manages to get back to her own time, but something is wrong. History has been changed. That is where the second part comes in. The second part is called 'Tomorrow's end'.
The timeline has been altered and the 31st century is a barren wasteland instead of the paradise it once was. Alanna and Lorien(her teacher-I had to guess at the spelling) travel back to the year 2500 to find out what Silverthorn has done to alter history. They uncover a plot to take over the world and that's when chaos ensues. There is time travel all over the place, to 1990, to 2500, and back again.
I just think this was a really good show. I tried not to give too much away if anyone is interested in seeing it. Unfortunately, it is next to impossible to get a copy of the series. I got my copy from e-bay, and it was a dvdr which was converted from that person's VHS version of the show.
Rumor has it that 'Film Australia' might be releasing it on DVD some time in the future, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
If anyone has ever seen this show, please leave a comment here to let me know what you thought of it. It was broadcast in North America around 1995 or 1996, I think.
