On The Night-Shift

I'm getting tired and weary
on the night-shift,
My eyes are getting bleary
on the night-shift,
I never see the light of day,
I'm so in debt I have to stay,
To earn the wages paid me
on the night-shift.
I never see my family
on the night-shift,
I come home tired and crabby
on the night-shift,
And then I stay up through the night,
And get to bed by early light,
Then sleep until I go back
on the night-shift.
But some day I'll retire
from the night-shift,
My time will then expire
from the night-shift,
I'll play around all through the day,
And in the night I'll drift away,
And dream that I'm back working
on the night-shift.

I worked the night shift many years ago and I don't miss it a bit. If I ever dreamed of the night shift I'm afraid it would be a nightmare. Nice job on this David. Take care and Have fun. Steve
When I retire(and it won't be soon because I'm young at heart)I hope I don't dream of the work I left, for that would be a nightmare! Brian is right this would be a good blues song. If you added something about a bar and a dog dieing, then it could be a country song, too!
This should be set to music, a real blues type tune.
It takes me back to a time I worked nights. I only lasted a month. I got 'crabby', and smacked the foreman.
They asked me to leave,,,,lol.
Thanks for the memory David.
