Sing It Again, Please

  Sing It Again, Please

I heard a song on the radio,
told a story close to mine.
A "had and lost" lovers story,
please play it one more time.

The man, he had a woman,
a most lovely girl to see.
She left him in the middle,
he just had to set her free.

Marriage plans were broken,
the flame ceased to burn.
The love had lost his lover,
the tide had suddenly turned.

Sing it again, please.
Please play it one more time.
Recall the memory for me,
please play it one more time.

The story is a sad one,
can pull tears down from your eyes.
The love was so intense,
but what burns also dies.

I've learned to live without her,
but still think of her all the time.
Please play it again,
for now I will be fine.

Sing it again, Please.
Please play it one more time.
Recall the memory of her,
for now I will be fine,
for now I will be fine!

I love it the message is loud and clear this time, I found the reason behind the rhyme. Ease the pain, try and stay sane.

This is a country song without music, but it was so evocative of the country songs I loved growing up that I could almost hear music as I read. Years ago B.J. Thomas had a song called " Hey, Won't You Play Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song", I almost think this could be the song you are requesting in your poem. There is a lot of rhythm in and a great flow to this poem...Jean

Reminds me of Casablanca...

...to have loved and lost...to this day I still think about my last ex, and dream what would have happened if we were still together.

The picture isn't a pretty one, LOL

I was told once by someone that you never stop loving the people you've been with. You never stop missing them. The pain just becomes more distant, the yearning a long lost memory.

Beautiful work.

I love the flow of this, it's very rhythmic. And well written I might add. It's hard to loose someone and even harder to be reminded of them at times I think. Love this, keep up the good work.

What a nice poem. Most songs are written so people can relate to them. This poem is very well-written.

Memories in a song!! I remember my first love, and when she broke it off, it seemed that every song I heard reminded me of her.
Thanks for the memories (I think!)

This was truly wonderful and I'm sure most people can relate to this poem. We have all experienced lost love, and we never truly ever forget someone we once loved, even if it was a long time ago.
