Mr. Meece

  Mr. Meece

In the cellar, 'neath the house,
Lives a very timid mouse,
Hiding in the darkest space,
Leaving tracks that you can trace.

Eating bits of moldy bread,
Longing for some cheese instead,
He's not there to cause a scare,
Of your home he wants to share.

He won't cause you any harm,
Doesn't mean to spread alarm,
Just a little timid mouse,
Living there inside your house.

There's no need to get a cat,
He's much smaller than a rat,
Let the poor thing live in peace,
Share your home with Mr. Meece.

Hello David: this is a delightful poem, filled with pathos as well as humor. I sympathize with Mr. Meece and his place in the home. By the way, the illustration is superb. Nicely done.

The kit in me rally licks this one. I like mouses and kats and doggys and cheesee. The kit in me licks it very much!!!!!!! I think you've done a great job here, David, and many children will be reading this one and pleading with their parents not to set mouse traps in the house!

I'd like to see you convince my wife on this one, but I don't think you will. Around my house it wouldn't be a thrill. The mouse would be the star in the movie, "Kill Bill!" If they would learn to use the bathroom instead of just leaving it everywhere! LOL Anthony
