As summer wanes and autumn lengthens twilight,
Soft whispers sough o'er desert sand,
While from a distance a cello sings his song
in rich baritone and mournful mellow timbre.
Soon coyote responds with his liquid lyric
and brings a soothing harmony to the night.
The man in the moon smiles
down on me in blissful silence,
and all is right with my world.

How peaceful.. I am moved by the images you have commanded with your pen. Melodic, soothing, all is right with the world.
Thank you for sharing this moment in time..

This is a beautiful and serene peice...I wrote something similiar to this awhile ago, (I believe I titled it "Life's Heartbeat" or something ^_^ ) but it definitly wasn't nearly this good.
And now mine too, thank you for this very calming visual. I can see it and feel the atmosphere, it eases my soul, and gives me peace of mind, which is hard to find.
This is a very melancholic and serene piece. It transports one to the wild, amids the songs of a harmonious cello. The Moon, mysterious as usual, lends this poem the mystique and peaceful aura it deserves. My only question is: What is the coyote doing? You mentioned liquid lyric. Is the coyote marking his territory?
The title is great for this work. I have been out there is the night and the sounds of nature can be great, especially by a warm fire with the one you love! Thanks, Anthony
