I'm always looking for poetry guides.
I picked up a "new" one by Frances Mayes, author of "Under The Tuscan Sun." It's called, "The Discovery of Poetry: A Field Guide to Reading and Writing Poetry." It's pretty much similar in format to other poetry guides, with chapters on rhyme, meter, metaphor, traditional forms, subject and style. I'm not sure its much different than other guides, but it is dense with numerous examples of both traditional and modern poetry, and is a joy to read and refer back to. For this struggling novice, I really can not have enough of these basics drummed into my brain.
