Mutual Abuse in the Name of Love

Mutual Abuse in the Name of Love

I destroyed the child in you,
I cut you too deeply to ever heal,
I laughed in the face of your pain,
And I resented you for no real reason,
But I love you.

You tore my clothes, bruised my face,
Dismantled all of my dreams,
Killed any ambition I thought I had,
And you smiled while I hid in tears,
But you love me.

We are held fast in a mutual hell,
Burned alive in passion and anger,
Scared by meaningless banter,
And too deeply in love to escape,
Or realize love is really hate.

Its sort of strange that sometimes love can turn to hate....:( Sort of sad ending, but I love sad endings....

I didn't understand the last verse in the poem last time I commented, but now I do.

This is a really good and sad poem. But love isn't always hate. It ends in hate a lot of the time though. Some times love is just a crush and fails and becomes hate. But there will be some one for every one if you do the right things at the right time and you can find that person. But love is born of happyness and joy. But it is natural for most loves to end in hate. Great poem and awesome pic. This is very dark, inspireing, and it makes you feel sad and kinda want to keep going at the same time. And is it humanly possable to have as good of spelling and stuff as you? :) Great poem!

This kina reminds me of that feeling you get when you kinda want to strangle things for no reason. It was little short but I can relate. way to go!

That was beautiful. One of my favs definately! Lovely in everyway, good rhymes and lets readers know and understand what you're saying. Sometimes it really is that way. Only problem was in the 2 stanza "And you smiled while I hid in tear" I think it should've been plural, but it could go either way. Definately a good write.

This is certainly a strange definition of love, certainly not what we read in 1 Corinthians 13,

Love is long suffering,
love is kind,
it is not jealous,
love does not boast,
it is not inflated.

It is not discourteous,
it is not selfish,
it is not irritable,
it does not enumerate the evil.
It does not rejoice over the wrong, but rejoices in the truth

It covers all things,
it has faith for all things,
it hopes in all things,
it endures in all things.

Then then again this is your interpretation or at least how you saw love in this situation.
Great expression and good writing.
