Choices of the Week
Once Again ^_^
by Debra Rose (Age: 21)
copyright 09-12-2005

Age Rating: 1 to 127

Sorry the updates are a bit sporadic right now. My hard drive crashed...but I doubt anyone really reads this anyways, so if you guys are, please comment! I'm starting to get a bit discouraged when it comes to writing this.

Theme
For this weeks theme, I have decided to have poems dedicated to our nations worst natural disaster for a while: Hurrican Katrina. The response of the American people, and the world community, has been astounding, proving that while many may not like our governments ways, they are able to look past that long enough to help the innocent victims of an unavoidable tragedy.

Winners:
Hurricane Katrina by author Anthony Lane Stahlhut
Anthony gives out a touching plea for help in his work Hurricane Katrina. He high lights the amount of suffering, and calls on others to help those in need. (Age Rating: 7-127)

Neighbours And Friends by author David Pekrul
Not only are American's feeling this tragedy, but as David illustrates in this poem, so is our neighbor to the north.(Age Rating: 10-127)

Winners:
A Butterfly Let Go - Based on a True Story by author Eleni M.
It's hard to really describe this work without reproducing the story itself. This short narrative gives the most beautiful and heart warming perspective on a sad situation. It's an easy read, and well worth the time. (Age Rating: 1-127)

One Simple Step by author Erin G
Written for her cousin's childs first steps, One Simple Step shows how learning to walk is more than just an accomplishment, but the beginning of life's journey. (Age Rating: 1-127)

I Know My Creator by author David Pekrul
As many of you know, I'm not one who much enjoys religious poems, but this one is a definite exception. David Perkul's, I Know My Creator, is a touching work of faith and inspiration that will leave you with a smile. This is an exceptional work that mingles perfectly emotion and form, and stands, in my eyes, as a prime example of passion based poetry. (Age Rating: 7-127)

P.S. I Love You Too by author Regina Pate
A brand new author here at PnP, Regina is already making her mark. This unique work is a mix of love and loss, joy and sorrow, filled with a deep longing. It's wonderful to watch this author grow here on and I'm happy to welcome her to the community. (Age Rating: 10-127)

Hidden Treasures

Winners:
Soul Food by author Lyle Berry
Talk about obsession...
Soul Food originally debuted in November of 2003, and stands to be my favorite of vampire stories ever written on this site. This chilling tale of decadence and blood lust gives a brief history of Vlad Drcul's daughter, Anastasia, and her rise into something even more terrifying than your average vampire. This is definitly a must read (Age Rating: 16-127)

Nothing Changes But Time by author Walter Jones
A Jones classic, Nothing Changes But Time debuted in December of 2002. In this small poem, Walt combines his normal use of stunning imagery with symbolism in a beautiful rhyme scheme that deeply touches the reader. (Age Rating: 10-127)

XD Sorry Deb, I just find this hillarious that you think no one really reads this. XD I mean, you have more than a thousand reads on this, and people who wait for updates! (no offence intended) ^.^

09-14-2005 Eleni Makarios

How wonderful that my story got published! By the way, the woman had not been taken away by the police, I found out from her, too. I never saw her again. I believe she was from somewhere else. Thank you!

09-13-2005 David Pekrul

Wow! Two of my poems nominated for the same column at the same time! This is really an honour. Thank you so much.

09-12-2005 Anthony Lane Stahlhut

I thank you for the honor, but the situation is much worse than my words were good. Thank you for me! I will show my gratitude with a donation to the Red Cross!
