There is something separating
the stars from the night--
that special glow
that brilliant light.
The radiance that comes
from the bright moon
borrowed from the sun,
yet shines so true.
It's dependency in nature--
there is no doubt,
without the opposite
nothingness abounds.
There is light for the dark,
yin for the yang,
evil for the good,
and dry for the rain.
It's a delicate balance,
maintained by all things,
from humans to animals,
It makes the earth sing.
It's the key to all harmony,
a universal truth,
which is why there can be
no me without you.
You're the day to my night,
the smooth to my rough,
the diamond to my dirt,
and all that I love.
You are my twin soul,
You keep me in line,
and from now to eternity,
past the very end of time,
you will be my best friend--
the strength to my doubt,
the smile to my sorrow,
which I cannot live without.
And if you ever find,
the darkness is too much,
the rain keeps on falling
and life gets too tough,
I will be your strength,
the sun to make you shine,
the calm in your storm,
the peace for your mind.
For as the sun is needed,
to give strength to the moon,
so my friend, I find,
I shall always need you.
Dedicated to Katie, the friend I hope I'll always have.
