Hurricane Katrina--The Least Of Our Problems
by Debra Rose (Age: 21)
copyright 09-22-2005

Age Rating: 7 to 127

(Information taken from MSN.com)

We all know of hurricane Katrina--the 145 mph storm that ravaged New Orleans and left many homeless, and many more dead. But that storm is proving to be small in the face of the coming devestation.

A new Hurricane has been spotted in the Gulf Coast, this one past the category 4 of Katrina, reaching the mind blowing, highest level ever of category 5, the highest there is. It's winds are said to be reaching up to, if not over, 165 mph, and is heading straight for the US mainland, towards Texas. But if it even veers right, it could hit New Orleans.

This is said to be the third most powerful Hurricane in recorded history, and could be the most powerful ever to hit the US mainland. With the devestation that befell Hurricane Katrina, what will Rita bring?

It is expected to hit on Saturday. And keep in mind...with the hurricanes produce more than just damage there. Gas prices, loss of life, of innocence, scores of homeless. In other states, it can even be the catalyst to cause things like torandos. How much more can America stand?

Between the war and nature, in what state will citizens of the US pull through?

Well now she's hit as a Catagory Three hurricane, and that's a HUGE releif. Who knows what could have happened if she had hit us straight on in her peak? Even so, the 'damage is going to be less than expected' (quote from CNN.com) a HUGE releif for us. Strange how the countries we concidered our 'enemies' are suddenly now emptying their banks to donate to us, as is like the rest of the world. Why do we need something soooo bad to happen to bring us in harmony??????

Looks like it will be a problem for New Orleans again. Lovely Rita, meter maid! Sorry I was just happy for us in Houston, we had thought it was going to hit us straight on! Good luck to my neighbors east and to all around us! Anthony
