Sleep Lost

I am the wind that lays by the sod
I remember Wink'n, Blink'n and Nod

Sleep escapes me for now
Eyes seek the dawn

I am a sparrow singing in black night
Lost my wings do not know how to fly

Nightmares they chase me
Soul reminds me of my wrong

I am a willow bending in your heart
waiting for forgiveness that is how love starts

Alone with thoughts inside my mind
miles of bad road dance all about

I am a reason to be free
Rest finds a new place to be

Chasing my trials and mistakes
Ghosts of past keep sneaking out

I am guilt dying in your bed
Reeling from hurtful things said

Weary of stature in a quest for fame
Ripples of desperate come playing my name

I am pure sand of my youth joined with prayer
trust and faith lead to a spiral stair

Vision comes like a warning thief
Begs me to seek a resting peace

I am a sword sweeping the plains
Sleep of rest finds me and calls my name

Songs of lovely sing along
Trouble in dreaming
Nightmare is gone
