Disgust!
Anger!
Rage!
Opening the mind to a dreadful world,
An alternate reality,
One of many consequences and negative choices,
Anger strikes the heart of tolerance.
Raging storms of strife stir the spirit of peace.
KABOOM!
Struck again,
The blame game!
Ourselves!
America!
The world!
Why do we insist on punishing ourselves?
Do we enjoy the negativity?
Are we attracted to the prevalent needs of destruction?
“Good Enough”
“Getting By”
“It is what it is”
Do you wish to lie stagnate in pools of sadness?
Are you so buried in “Hell” that happiness is just a dream?
Wake up!
Open your eyes!
Stop regurgitating lies of learned behaviors!

Like the others have said, this is a wake-up call modern society needs, but even the most powerful message flounders if no one heeds it. I only wonder what form the consequences of ignoring this message will take: will the world be engulfed in a Third World War, or will there be a massive social breakdown and riots in the streets, or will there be something much, much worse? As with many other things, only time will tell what the outcome will be. A thought-provoking work that is well-written and lacks for nothing in the grammar and spelling departments. As others have mentioned, the word choice is good, and a few phrases in particular jump out at me:
"Anger strikes the heart of tolerance."
"Are we attracted to the prevalent needs of destruction?"
"Stop regurgitating lies of learned behaviors!"
I have only found one problem: the phrase "Do you wish to lie stagnate in pools of sadness?" should be "Do you wish to lie and stagnate in pools of sadness?" I do not know if you simply made a mistake or the phrase in that form had a meaning I have overlooked, but rest assured that if it was a mistake, that one mistake will not sink such a great work! Keep up the good work!
This is a powerful and riveting poem and I guess the real question is, what the hell are we doing there? Why must we sacrifice our young for their freedom? You have some very nice lines, e.g.: "Anger strikes the heart of tolerance." We as Americans tend to be very tolerant, but more Americans are not opposed to this madness we're in. And, "Raging storms of strife stir the spirit of peace." We are definitely being tested in this day and age. You're right, we better wake up! Great sentiments expressed here! Good flow and excellent imagery!
With conviction we will or can change, but who do we pattern ourselves after? We can try to live by the commandments and the bible, but everyone that I have looked up to has been shown to be a wolf in sheep's clothing. If we could all try to be an example then maybe our children can have someone to pattern after. You raise many good thoughts with this write and it is vague enough to be taken in many ways, but the outline to God is clear. I thank you for the message, it was well received. Anthony
Powerful words and emotions! So much could be read into this poem. Each time I read it, new visions appeared, but all of them dark and angry.
Let's all get the message before it is too late.
The only thing there is to realize are the things that we begin to so called realize are in fact "real lies' that we are programed to believe. What is the ideal, everyone is striving for the ideal and never satisfied with the now. I live in Texas and we always want the biggest of everything, bigger is not always better, anyway, we are never satisfied with the now and so we die miserable but we just complain about it because we think oh well thats life and we never strive to do better, I am trying to change that I have always wanted to be a writer and although I am not yet the writer I want to be I am happy and grateful to be the writer that I am but at the same time with you and everyone at PnP I am slowly but surely becoming the writer that I dream I am. It is work like this that inspires me and pushes me to think and grow and write anew. Thank you Jack, Great write, sorry I wrote so long but I could help it.
