The Man Who Would Be Santa

From Canada, away up north,
A fine old chap, the friendly sort,
The strangest man you'll ever see,
His big white beard he wears with glee.

Born in the 50's, (handsome boy),
He gave his parents pain and joy,
Raised in the 60's, (country lad),
He thought those 'Flower Kids' were mad.

His hair was growing really thick,
A moustache on his upper lip,
He walked around like it was cool,
But they made fun of him at school.

He worked in Travel all his life,
For two kids and a loving wife,
And spent years making travel plans,
To help the Rich go where they can.

He left his job, Two Thousand Five,
He looked quite old, but still alive,
And searched for ways that he'd fit in,
With big white beard upon his chin.

He heard St. Nick retired too,
And knew just what he had to do,
With shirt so red and boots so black,
Dave Pekrul-Claus was coming back.

And now he has a Santa Run,
He gets no pay, it's just for fun,
And through the year makes travel plans,
To bring us gifts the best he can.

Congratulations! I'm sorry I didn't read this sooner. It made me feel all warm and cheery
inside. -Think I will put on my robe and slippers,
and sit by my fireplace and wait for you to come next year-

Good write!

This is really funny! Such a resemblance too. The kids won't even notice that it's not Santa, it's you!

Ho Ho Ho!
So it was you in my chimney, thought I recognised you.
Well St Nick, this Christmas I want a better golf swing.
Nicely done David, I do hope you enjoy your retirement as much as I am enjoying mine.
Brian.

I think this is too short(poem) to house the complexity that is David. But its wonderful as usual.
By the way (this is the photographer in me talking) don't wear your glasses if the reflection is in it, I don't see beautiful eyes as much as I do glass window and the eyes are where the focus needs to be for a portrait

I like you gray...The darker one looked....well...darker! You look like Santa here!

" dashing through the snow. In a one horse open sleigh" This is a great poem Mr. Clause.I'd tell you what I want for Christmas, but I got her many years ago. This year snow would be cool could you send Winter Mistress down for a spell! Good job and a pleasure to read! Anthony

Wow, what a beard! I wish I could grow one like that, never could. I think this is a charming poem, Christmas-spirited, so to speak. The rhyming scheme is really good. Very fluid, rolls right of the tongue, but the best part is the Christmas-like spirit it evokes. Great job, David and by the way, congratulations on your retirement and your new endeavor as Santa. I could just picture you with your red suit and your black boots! Merry Xmas!

OK Santa can I sit on your lap and tell you what I want for Christmas, I want Prince Charming in a box. The last Santa couldn't do it, If you are the real Santa, then come on and prove it! Give me what I want for Christmas, I have been a very good girl, I just want Roger, not the whole world. lol. Very good David, I mean Santa. he he Thank you

Gina
