Fear
by Jack Curson (Age: 32)
copyright 10-10-2005

Age Rating: 10 to 127

So many times in life we are presented with opportunities that can make our lives blossom with freedoms unparalleled from the “realities” we live in within our minds. Creating these self imposed boundaries, cluttering the world with false truths, preventing our own footsteps from moving forward, “crossing the line”! Great amounts of the truths we use on a daily basis to make our most important decisions in life are rooted deep within our hearts. False Evidence Appearing Real in our lives and the lives of others can harbor significant attitudes that are not only building a negative approach to the simplest of ideas, but also to relationships, goals, dreams, etc that can leave us in a tailspin for minutes, days, months, and years if not our entire lives. These walls must be brought down! The excuses may mount, the road might be narrow and full of debris, but the choice must be made to push through it, to scale the wall so to speak and defeat the nemesis that is holding the real you back.

Ask yourself a question, the one you have been fighting back realizing the answer may actually be one you don’t want to hear.

What are you afraid of?

No really? What are you afraid of?

It has been said that “we have nothing to fear but fear itself” - Franklin D. Roosevelt.

• The Great Depression (13 million unemployed)
• Polio (Losing the ability to walk)
• Pearl Harbor (Attack on American Soil)
• Four Terms as President

The man overcame a significant amount of “FEAR”!

Well for me this has been a long and drawn out war on a battle that rages on daily. The key to my dilemma though is that I have the tools in place to conquer this foe! Do you? I realize more and more each day that the only person holding me back is me! I am determining the direction I go each day. I take that step out of bed each morning on the good side or the bad. It is a simple choice that feeds the fire which will be my day. It is when I start asking these simple life altering questions that I soon realize the length of my stay here on earth with all the people who surround me. I will never give up, I will never fall back on “good enough”, and I will push forward knowing that “FEAR” is just a word and that life is to short to waste time.

What a nice story! And a long one! Not an offense, but a compliment! Keep up the good work and I wish you the best!

If it is to be, it is up to me! God doesn't guide us along. God gave us the ability to make our own choices. He has shown us the path we are to follow, but it looks like it is up hill all the way. There are short cuts and some do find them, but for most of us, the short cuts don't get us there any sooner. God will show you the way, but you must believe in the path he shows as the best...and it is! Anthony (I did enjoy your story and thank you!)
