  Let Us Rest

I am free now
Of a body that was broken
And a heart that was doubly so.
Where there was pain, now there is peace
Where there was noise,
The pounding of my ragged pulse in my head
Now there is a comforting silence
Where I was crippled in life
Now I walk proud and upright
Whereas I could not speak before my passing,
Now I am laughing and shouting with glee everyday
Maybe I'm in Heaven
Maybe in the peaceful fields of Elysia
I don't know
But I am happy here.

If you can hear me now,
A whisper on the breeze as it surfs through the trees
A tinkling, bubbling laugh like the creek by your house
Listen as I am telling you how much I love you
And ask you very sweetly
To remember me, and not to be too sad.

Remember how sad I was?
How afraid I was to die?
Know now that I am at peace
And I have friends and family here too.
I know we'll see each other again
But I do hope not too soon
I'm looking forward to watching you live life
From up above.

If you need me, I am with you
When you miss me, close your eyes
And when you're alone and cold at night
I'll be right there, holding you in my arms
So that for a time, together, we will rest.
Let us rest.

This peice of work is far by the most beautiful poem i've ever read it made me think about simply letting our loved ones rest in peace and let them die knowing that they will be better wherever they go i am certainly impressed

Wow...I've never read anything like this before...And I've read a lot of poems...It's not really dark, which is my love, but I really love this poem. It's so creative. And I'm sure everyone wants to feel like that. And almost everyone is deserving. Is this partly about th Goddess? This poem is incredible. I love it, and they way you write!

In the sharing of emotion we extend the life of living. Giving hope and faith comfort a sad left at the grave. A well crafted piece. Walt

Wow. If anyone has lost a loved one, they should definately read this. It would bring peace to their loss. Well done.

Kathryn...this is lovely and so incredibly comforting. This is the message I would want to send to the loved ones I leave behind and also the message I would want to receive from the ones who go before me. Very well written, without hitting a false note or getting overly sentimental...bravo.

This is a very soothing, hopeful and restful piece. It is well written and sure to give comfort to those who need the message.
