~Tale of a Halloween Witch~
by Jeniffer Brand (Age: 38)
copyright 10-15-2005

Age Rating: 13 to 127

You look at the full moon so clear in the sky.
The moon is so beautiful, around it you fly.

You chant and you sing the most beautiful song.
And being with nature is where you really belong.

You absorb all the energy in night and in day.
As the God and the Godess show you their way.

You sweep your house, you use your wand.
To all these rituals you've become very fond.

You cast a spell full of hope and in love.
And open your hands to set free the white dove.

You thank the Gods and chant a little tune.
Blessed be the harvest we will see soon.

You remind yourself of the "law of three fold",
for "harm none" it is written and this law's very old.

You dance around the fire with the moon so near.
And Blessed be all till I see you next year!

Let the myth and stereotypes remain as they are! For the children's sakes..
Let the poem above relate to those serious in their endeavors of ritual if they are 'familiar', and let others have their fun in the innocence of not knowing.
It sweetly calls us to worship, and my God is a jealous God. He is one God, and there shall be none before Him.
The spirit of the season beckons us to let down our guard. I am easily in the mood, and this poem describes it well. This is the really scary stuff to me.. knowing that I can lose my soul so innocently enough in one night of folly.
But, I shall always be drawn to this way of writing. A 'merry' spell upon me from lives past perhaps?

Brightest Blessings and Merry Meet! I had my misgivings when I saw the title, but I'm truly very happy that I found this poem! Debunking the myth and stereotypes is hard, but every little bit of effort helps! Thank you so much for writing and featuring this. Keep up the good work! Merry parting until we merry meet again. ^_^

Ah such an elegant poem.
I love the ending.

I'm not a real fan of Halloween, but you have written a nice seasonal poem, with great charm.

Is it coincidence that the Moon is full tonight? Hmmm...This poem is very melodic and very astutely written. I wouldn't wouldn't be surprised if its magic actually worked! Very charming, no pun intended. The atmosphere of Halloween is clearly felt in this wonderful poem. It's fluidity is very smooth, except for the word, "faund." I don't know if you meant, fond or found. Very nicely done!

This is a wonderful poem, but witches are scary I thought. This poem makes me want to see them in a different light. Like the small ones that come to my door dresed as a witch, but really a small sweet child! Good write. Anthony

This is sort of like a ballad-- a Halloween version of "Twas The Night Before Christmas," friendly and lighthearted. I think you spelled "absorb" wrong in stanza three.

Jim
