My Hopes
by Brittney N. N. (Age: 17)
copyright 10-16-2005

Age Rating: 13 to 127

When I first saw you
I felt myself be drawn to you.
As we were seated in class
I hoped I would sit next to you.
As my hope became true
I thought of what to say to you.
I came up with nothing
And became tongue-tied.
I hoped I didn’t look like a fool.

I soon became friends with someone close to you,
and she agreed to help me.
To help me start a conversation with you.
She soon spilled it all.
Everything I had said about you.
I was angry at first
but soon thanked her,
because I could now talk comfortably to you.
We talked all the time,
from that moment on,
and soon became close friends.
As our friendship escalated
I thought I could be with you.
So I asked you out,
to get a sad no.
I felt my heart brake,
though I didn’t show it to you.

We still remained friends,
and I came much closer to you.
I didn’t ask again,
but you made a move.
You kissed me
and I kissed you.
We went further and further
until I has stopped you.
I wanted to go further,
but worried about afterwords.
You accepted my no,
and I grew to like you even more.
Then I talked to you again,
and told you the truth.
The truth that I never wanted to stop.
You got upset,
And said some things that scared me.
I now sit here worrying about you,
And what I have done to cause you pain.
I’m sorry I hurt you.
But will you forgive me?
I dearly hope you do.
That is my hope,
and now I lay into a restless dream.

~he throws black roses at her feet~

You really have a gift for telling a story, a gift for suspense. I keep repeating all the same wonderful things about your writing, but they are all true.
Excellent Write!

That was lovely. Long, but not overdone. A story in a poem format. I applaud!

That was a very nice poem. But remember one thing as you go on in life..."love" is not always what you think it is.

Love can be a strange thing both for the one in it and the one that it is for. If not returned it can cause sleepless nights, but remember you can love again and hopefully it will be someone that feels the same! Anthony

This is a really neat poem, I can see the story unfolding within it. If you want, you could try to make it flow more, but that isn't necessary. Good job.
