Knight in Shining Armor
by Jack Curson (Age: 32)
copyright 10-18-2005

Age Rating: 7 to 127

What is this love that draws my heart to the center of you?
Crying in the night for the soft sweet kiss of your lips,
Waking in a nightmare that finds you missing from my arms,
I ride my faithful steed on through this land of despair,
Like the morning air, I am nothing without the breath of you!
This heart in my chest lacks a beat without this love divine!
Dreams move on, desire will rescue this princess from the depths of separations’ solitude.
Battling through these nights maniacal minions bent on the destruction of our hearts.
With a fiery sword drawn and passion emblazed,
These beasts are left in the tracks of my stallion,
In the eye of the storm we ride, this pseudo peace is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
It is my life that rages on though these;
Rampant images…
Mumbled conversation…
Dastardly arguments…
Destructive criticism…
Slithering whispers…
As more henchmen arise, from the past and present bent on waging war,
Times like these call for dedication, pressing on,
If it were not for you, faire lady, my journey would be a failure.
My spirit does persist with its steady hand lifting me to my achy feet.
Beckoning, beseeching, pleading…
Your unending love calls to a depth beyond my core.
I would lie on this battlefield bruised and bloodied,
If not for the call of your soul to mine!

I LOVE IT. That is so cool! I love the fantasy and the story it shows. Good job!

What a love song! She must be something very special to have that much power... to draw you bleeding from the battlefield where you would lay and die if not for her.
Very Shakespearian indeed!

I love the Romanesque feeling in this piece. It also evokes in me the feeling of dungeons and dragons, the mystical and the magical, a dream-like state caused by the eternal curse that is the fight for love. Very descriptive and sensual in nature. I love this line, "These beasts are left in the tracks of my stallion," Wonderful imagery! Well done, Jack!

Wow, now that's poetry! This is by far the best poem I've read in a few days and one of your best! I really loved the ride this took me on. Almost A shakespearian ,but not, Anthony
