Shattered

by Lyra Meurer (Age: 20)
copyright 10-21-2005

Age Rating: 10 +

You thought you could fly,
Soar free in the sky again.
How wrong you were,
Your wings are broken and already dissolving,
You will never see the blue sky again.

You have fallen from that blue sky,
And darkness fills your broken body.
You hear birdsong far, far away,
Taunting you for all your sadness.
Nobody cares now.

Remember how you used to fly?
Remember those days of delight and joy?
You had friends,
Those who loved you,
Embraced you in their arms.

And yet now black has come,
And you are inevitably,
Forever
Shattered.
