The Lamb in the Pen

  The Lamb in the Pen

Author's note: I neglected to mention that this poem is an actual dream I had, thus the erratic fluctuations in fluidity. This dream came as a response to a question I had asked of the Divine, last week, before I fall asleep. "Ask and you shall receive!" 10/28/05

******************************************************

I needed to travel, my friend
Will you take me in your vehicle?
My contract has expired, I must renew
Thank you, friend, for you're true
You travel with me without reservation

Do you know the way?
Where is this place we’re going?
The dust is unsettling, my vision is blurring
"The dust will settle..."
We're here already!
What is this in front of me?

"This is Jerusalem."
And these sheep?
"The Lords'"
They’re rather small; but they're so rugged
And who is this that's coming forth?'

"This is the Lamb that leads the flock"
The Lamb, the Lamb of God!
"He is Jesus! Follow him
He'll guide you to your tent"

Oh, I can’t communicate
my cell phone is dead
My contract has expired
Is this the tent?'
"Indeed, this is the tent"

How much is my renewal?
"Two eighty two"
This is a bit much
"Renew in someone else's name"
Can I?

"If you must, it will be less expensive"
'How much?
"One hundred"
One hundred sounds better
I'll ask my friend if I can renew in his name'
"Very well"

I hear a voice
I hear the voice of the Lamb
I don't want to err
I will renew, in my own name
Another’s contract is worthless to renew!

The Bible says that His sheep know His voice. It also says that a hired man will run when he sees a wolf coming and will leave the sheep, for they aren't his and he isn't their shepherd.
We can't renew our contract under another's name because the Bible also says that there is only one name by which we can be saved, and that name is Jesus.

Beautiful as usual, Mr.Crique. You take meanings from just the right places. I myself am not particularily religious, and yet I do SO enjoy your work.
Bravo.
I had to read it over twice however, to completely catch it. My fault, really. The message I like, but (And of course, I mean this in the kindest respects) you may want to add a little more fluidity to your work.
Still, very impressive.

OK I reading this to mean that you must keep your own contract with the Shepard. To renew in another's name doesn't change who you are. Be who you are and your contract will be better. Where does two eighty two come from? Is there a significance behind those numbers?

This is serious, Anthony! A cell phone is modern device that everyone uses to communicate with one another, but to communicate with the Divine, all we need is prayer! Read the second poem, "The Lamb is Alive," and you'll understand!

I can't use my cell phone? I thought this to sound serious, but a cell phone. Try verizon...can you hear me now! Anthony
