The Power Of Music
by David Pekrul
copyright 10-28-2005

Age Rating: 10 to 127

Electronic synthesizer,
Modern music organizer,
Never being any wiser,
Music critics and advisors.

Music they have never known,
Played with feeling and home-grown,
Shakes emotions to the bone,
Music that we call our own.

Playing music by the hour,
In the basement or the shower,
Music that will give us power,
Always sweet and never sour.

Music far outside the norm,
Helps us to outride the storm,
Though it doesn’t fit their form,
From our feelings it was born.

Please don’t judge the way we play,
Or the many things we say,
Black and white is often gray,
We’re the potter, not the clay.

Once again, David. Wow. This is very true...I find myself with music constantly, unable to be away from it. Since my ipod broke, I've been depressed, because I don't have something to listen to like that, oddly enough. This is a wonderful work, and well deserving the five praise points

The clay does not form the pot, the potter does. The instrument makes the sounds and the "Potter" arranges the sounds that create the music. Critics, who are they? You must find one that enjoys the same things as you do if you want their advice. I don't care for "Rap" music, but some are making a lot of money selling it to those that do! The old adage still works...to each their own.
Black and White are often gray.
So are things that critics say.
Listen to what you want to play.
If not before, today is the day!

See what you do to me! Anthony

WOW!!! This poem is really awesome. I'm not sure why they have music critics if they don't like it they don't have to listen to the music. Other people out there may like it, but it doesn't matter to critics. I really like how you peaced the poem together. My favorite stanza would have to be the last one because you are right musicians are the potter not the clay. I really like how you used those words. You did a great job. I love the rhyming to.
