My body’s under pressure
My heart; lock and frozen key
“I dare you all, I dare you all
To come and open me.”
But the key has long gone missing
And the lock is in plain view.
The world has frosted over
Making hope taboo.
“I dare you all, I dare you all
To come and open me”
Yet the cries are not heard
Nor is the hidden plea
It’s all or nothing
In a world with nothing but pain
Nails and ice and poison
Run through every vein
“Give me back my aching heart,
My soul and its dismay
Return to me the pain I felt
Before I die away
“Make the numbness go
And the angst of it all return.
Don’t let me fade away
I’d rather bruise and bleed and burn.
While I can’t feel a thing,
Is there someone feeling me?
Is there someone, somewhere, out there,
Who is trying so hard to remain?”
Yet as the hero saves the day
The icy soul will melt away
Leaving the shining, silver tear
To keep the nothingness at bay
