The Lady In Love With Roy
by Mary -BrytEyz- Ball (Age: 38)
copyright 11-13-2005

Age Rating: 13 to 127

The maiden fair, her virtue safe
Until she met a certain lad
The little lady fell in love
And then she loved with all she had

Though others had tried many times
Easy work 'twas for this boy
To loosen up her vestal ties
And transform her into his toy

She loved him in the morning
She loved him through the night
She loved him still in mourning
Made love though 'twasn't right

He played his cards so carefully
as he enjoyed this royal game
She dodged the guards so bare-fully
then quickly to her love she came

Just a mere young peasant boy
Still the King he would betray
The Princess of the kingdom
was not to give her heart away

Yes, once he'd vowed allegiance
to Queen and country to death
Little had he known how fun
it was to waste that breath

For many days he'd worn that suit
of mail he'd made from simple stuff
But now his nights he lay without
Beside the Princess in the buff

She had her servant make a sword
To trade for the boy's worn out stick
Jewels and gems galore it had
The sheath was sturdy and thick

For awhile he was enamored
and star struck with this prize
But soon the game was over
And the stars fell from his eyes

Though a Princess she was indeed
He missed the fame back home
When he used to ride the drawbridge
And was adored by all he'd known

The secrecy was not conducive
to the life he'd lived before
When he was free to be with
whichever pawn he would explore

So one night he rode the stallion
He'd long since traded for the burro
To return to that little village
Through the wood and over furrow

Back to his home outside of Rome
Where by all he had been adored
His heart again full of passion
his hand now held a royal sword

The Princess cried a river for
The love of that peasant boy
In her bed she shivered and died
Last words: "I love you Roy!"

Even thouh tis tale of fantasy was a bit long, it held my interest all the way.
And it was your usual well-written work of art,

This was an outstanding write. Very good story behind your chosen words and you used an excellent rhythm and rhyme technique. The whole entire poem flowed smoothly from top to bottom and it was easy to follow and understand. I really enjoyed reading this one very much. Good work. Ernie.

She gave her all to her boy,
A gallant Knight, twas Sir Roy.
He gave his word and then his heart.
His need for home tore them apart.
So he went home with his new sword,
to where he once had been adored.
Back to guard his Royal Queen,
from man or breast or anything.
The princess wept and then she cried.
of broken heart she then died!

Now Roy's girl is dressed in leather.
Tickles him with whip and feather.
keeps him on a ten foot tether,
This Madam's name is Heather!

I believe the situation you have painted was known as "Courtly Love". Well actually, 'Courtly Love' was when a peasant boy fell in love with a woman of nobility, but you get the picture. Actually, I think everyone gets the picture now. Good write and thanks for adding to the story of Roy.
