The Edge Of Life

  The Edge Of Life

Standing at the edge of life,
I gaze into the pit,
And see the demons coming forth,
With fury that won't quit.

I hear their cursing and their screams,
I see their constant rage,
They're reaching out to capture me,
And lock me in their cage.

I try to fight but cannot move,
I try to take a stand,
Resisting in my weakened state,
To do what they command.

But pressures from the outside world,
Have robbed me of my will,
As demons take control of me,
And drag my soul downhill.

I look inside to find some strength,
Then look to God above,
And from the sky I see His love,
Descending like a dove.

No longer do I live in fear,
As demons rant and rage,
For though they try to claim my soul,
I'm on a different page.

I really like this poem. It flowed really well and it delieved the message really well. My favorite part has to be where you say 'Pressures from the outside world;/ Have robbed me of my will." It is so true about how the outside world tries to force its materialist views. Glad to see a happy ending though. Who isn't? ^.^

Well written poem that could be easily read and understood. Excellent flow throughout and good use of rhythm and rhyme were applied making this an enjoyable read. The story was very easy to follow and carried a great message in its contents that was clear and concise. Very well done on this one.

I entered the contest too, and there is no doubt you will win. This is an excellent poem, describing despair, but then hope as you look above. Bravo!

I do like this and your dark side is interesting. I read Tiddily Dee, Tiddily Dum first and this was quite a change, but your ending brought me back to the real David. I like the positive ending! Anthony

You're the first person to enter my first contest! This is a very good and inspiring poem. Starting with a very dark them and ending with a inspiring end. The desperate struggle and then the ray of hope, giving a feeling of true hope to the person reading it. Very good!
