Settling Down
by Walter Jones (Age: 63)
copyright 11-18-2005

Age Rating: 16 to 127

I'd love to take the high road
But passion has always kept me down

I'd love to be the good guy
but truth and me kinda mess around

I'd stop and kiss you with a heart pure an true
but the truth is I just want to make love to you

I'd be a shining star if my body would let me
but desire has always done me in

I'd love to just be your friend
Not sure that is where it would end

Minds and bodies talk of freedom
Rolling stones have no homes

I'd love to take the high road
But passion has always kept me down

In the desire of living the free spirit
Never has a home

I'd love to just be your friend
Not sure that is where it would end

So I 'll settle down if you let me
I keep the fire warm

I'd love to be the good guy
but truth and me kinda mess around

But remember a free spirit
Will always be one step from moving on

I'd love to just be your friend
Not sure that is where it would end

Ah, Walter! A song.. does it speak the truth? Who will sing your song, Walter Jones?
I was once called a free spirit.. I had no idea that the person that said it would catch me and change it all. It was quite a surprise to me, but he said he knew all along... 17 years ago.
A lot has changed since then, but I am remembering who I am... longing for me to get to be me... but no longer do I wish to roam. (at least not the way I used to!)
Thank you for the journey!
Debbie

Ships pass in the night and some travel together for a short time. Relationships sometime require a wandering soul to stop wandering, but they don't always last a whole lifetime. I'm not sure if we can just stay friends is always the man's line. Women seem to be able to keep the distance better than we do! Good write and reflection! Anthony
