You Could Have Been

You Could Have Been

I hold onto the dreams
I hold onto the sake of my sanity
I hold onto the fact I can't break away
I turn and see, my heart fading away

Feelings that have left me shaken
Feelings that made me care
Feelings that I shouldn't know
Feelings that just don't seem to share

Love me little, love me long
This is the burden of my song
I can't break away
My feelings are written out too long
Don't you just want to know?

That you could have been my story
You could have been my song
But now that the page has turned
It's too late now,
I could have been yours

I never had much to gain
Nothing as much within the past few days
From winter's cold or summer's heat
I can't seem to survive from
Autumn's beat

I wish I could have turned back time
I wish I could have seen it coming
Looking into the future instead of my past
Why does this journey to your love have to end so fast?

Love me little, love me long
This is the burden of my song
I can't break away
My feelings are written out too long
Don't you just want to know?

That you could have been my story
You could have been my song
But now that the page has turned
It's too late now,
I could have been yours

I don't want to let this go
I don't want to make it on my own
But you've got to know
Am I ever going to break away?

Love me little, love me long
This is the burden of my song
I can't break away
My feelings are written out too long
Don't you just want to know?

That you could have been my story
You could have been my song
But now that the page has turned
It's too late now,
I could have been yours

You could have been my sight
You could have been my word
You could have been my changing seasons
You could have been...
Mine

Hi Anne-Marie,

I hear your voice loud and clear come shining through in this beautiful song. I only wish I could hear it for real. Its really, really good.

~hands her a bag of M&M's~
