They flew for several hours in silence. The girls’ new attire did not disappear, but stayed with them. All three of them, in the small corner of their minds that never seemed to notice what was going on, thought that these were the most comfortable clothes ever. Rui led, but she was following a path she had gone over many times in stimulations in the supervision of the Lady.
This was when they had yet their next spot of trouble.
Rui noticed an asteroid and followed it with her eyes. Her eyes seemed to be x-raying the rock. They took in every groove and hollow and jut. It was a fairly large asteroid, one that was large enough to have been extremely heavy, but about the size of a full grown, and very fat cat. It was oddly similar in shape as well if you looked at it a certain way. She looked away from it to make sure they were still on course.
Jenna noted the thing dully, her eyes showing no real sign of interest. That is, they showed no interest until it abruptly swerved to the left, and was sucked away into a…was it really? They had come this far in a matter of hours? Jenna threw away that wonder, and went hard towards their right to avoid it. She tried to explain, but she suddenly realized that she couldn’t find her voice. She tried to speak, but it was as if someone had put a mute in her throat.
Rui gave Jenna a look of tired exasperation. Jenna, with an extreme effort, found her voice and yelled, “There’s a black hole to our left!”
Everybody snapped back into reality, especially Rui. She knew that what Jenna thought was a black hole was actually not a black hole. It was a portal. It was a portal like the one she had come to Earth in, but the Lady had obviously made it a larger kind and put a vacuum on it, to suck them up. Unfortunately for the Lady, the vacuum also sucked up anything else, and in this case, it sucked up the asteroid, warning them of its presence. Rui inwardly gave an insane grin. She knew that the Lady would most likely to be caught by surprise when the asteroid came hurtling out of the portal at her feet.
“Swerve to the left, and look for a dark circle where there aren’t any stars!” Rui yelled to the others.
Karen looked wildly around. There seemed to be nothing around them but stars, their light much brighter than they were on Earth, their light pure and unwavering.
Jenna stared in the direction where she had seen the asteroid disappear, to her left. The sky to her left was filled with stars, until she spotted a small dark hole that was no larger than a pancake. But not many black things can go unnoticed when they are against a white screen, in this case, a spiral galaxy that was about the size of Jenna’s torso. The portal must have been still ten yards away, but that didn’t stop its current. This current didn’t weaken with distance, and that was going to be a problem.
“To our left!” Jenna yelled, and one second late.
They had run into the strong current, and it began pulling them in with a steady flow like a fish fighting against a downstream river.

The Lady smiled. Portals like this took as much effort as merely thought for her, while one of the lesser spell casters might have collapsed with weariness before a minute had passed, but she could easily hold one for an hour. Then it might take a little more energy, like walking.
This was perfect. There was no one to stand in her way once the girls were in her grasp.

“This is a portal! The Lady wants us!” Rui screamed. “Don’t let her get us! Don’t let her get us!”
The girls’ eyes started glowing again, and with that, came their temporarily unpredictable, not to mention unstable powers. But they didn’t notice it at the time. They were too distracted in trying to break free of the current. The current gave off several throbs, as if someone was laughing; as if whoever had created the darn thing was laughing at their efforts.
Jenna wouldn’t tolerate it. She sent out a small, powerful, and fast tunnel of scarlet fire towards the portal. As if that were a cue, Karen created a pearl-colored, snake-like rope that wound itself around Jenna’s tube, creating a twist heading towards the portal, guided by the current. Amber had a electric blue yo-yo, and drew the ball over her head, and threw it at the twist, which wound itself into the twist, creating a braid, and Rui sent out purple light that gave the entire thing a purple glow, though you could still see the original colors.
This braid of colors was about as thick as the girls’ waists, and it was packed with power, while hurling toward the portal at full speed.
~*~
The Lady wasn’t aware of the braid, because she had her eyes closed, telling herself she would open them when she had the girls in front of her.
Then she heard the hum of power and opened her eyes, and saw a colored tube racing with the current of the portal. She was surprised, and then almost frightened. She panicked and closed the portal, but not before a small ball had gotten through, and hit her on the stomach, burning, tossing, and soaking her, all at once, not to mention that pain-creating light. It was small, about the size of a large marble, but it was still enough to drive the Lady to her feet in pain. The fire part burned her severely, the wind drove her to her knees, the water was packed as hard as any bullet, and that dratted light! It must have been the traitor’s, she could recognize that magic anywhere.
After the bulk of the pain was over, she pulled herself to her feet, and swore, and cursed the girls and Rui with every word she knew in all tounges.
She swore violently to herself, and vowed would get her hands on the girls, and make them pay for this, and the spy…she would have a thousand tortures upon the cursed elf before she was killed.
Then, quite alarmingly, she smiled. But this smile had a very, very nasty tint to it. This wasn’t over yet. No, it was nowhere near over. Why, they were only beginning the fun.

“That was a close call.”
Rui’s voice seemed to echo in Karen’s mind.
“What was that?”
Jenna’s voice seemed oddly shrill, and was like a screw in Karen’s mind.
Rui sighed, and was able to explain some things. The group hung in space for a half an hour listening to how there was this Lady in Rui’s world who wanted to take over that entire World, and was planning to make Monesia, and was planning to use the girls to get there. But before Rui could explain how she was part of this, or the other girl, or her sisters, or anything else….
There was a small sob, and then the surprised girls looked at Amber, who would have looked very comical with the cat sleeping on her head, if she weren’t crying.
Jenna left her kitten to hang in space, and tried to go hug Amber, but only ended up slamming against the side of her ball. She was dazed, then she rested her fingers against the side of the ball, and asked, “Amber! What’s wrong?”
Amber gave a small, hysterical giggle that swelled to become a full-throated laugh. Karen and Rui glanced at each other, not sure of what to make of this new Amber, while Jenna acted like the two-minute older sister she was, and tried to calm Amber down.
“What’s wrong? What’s wrong?” Amber managed to calm down enough to say this.
“We’re in the middle of space, with these costumes and these new powers, and no home to speak of, and you ask what’s wrong? I want to go home. I want my cow face pillow. I want to see the little ducks again. I want Mom, and Dad. And even more now, we have a crazy psycho person after us, who wants to use us as tools, to do whatever she wants, and—“
“Amber.”
Jenna’s voice was clear, and rang over Amber’s rant. Amber looked up, and saw Jenna.
“Amber, it’s not what we want anymore. It’s trying to survive now. I, personally, have no intention of becoming this ‘Lady’s pet, whoever she is. I don’t care how ‘high and powerful’ she is. I’m going to go with Rui and learn how to control my powers. Maybe I do sound like a jerk, or someone who’s not me, or a politician. But we have these new powers, and I am going to learn how to control them, and destroy this ‘Lady’, and give peace to Rui’s world. Her world has seen a constant fear, but that’s a path that nobody should have to live. Let’s destroy the fear, and maybe we can have a home again there, in Rui’s world.”
It was amazing how Jenna had sketched the future of the girls by this rather short speech. This path for the girls was obvious ever since Rui had started speaking, but Jenna provided that push to sharpen their resolve, and their determination to fulfill this future.

Terra woke to find herself in a different room than the one she had entered in. She blinked, trying to remember what had happened. She scraped up some memories of being jolted, and bumped, but nothing else except a sliver of purple light. Not finding much meaning in her vague memories, turned her attention towards her surroundings.
She was lying in a four poster bed that had a rich brown for the hangings edged with gold. Her sheets were a lighter brown, and made of a silk-like material. She looked at herself, and she was wearing a nightgown of a sort that was the same material as the sheets. She told herself she’d look at them in a minute. There were six plump cushions on either side of her, with three spare pillows. The posters were made out of a sort of dark, fine quality wood, and were shaped like tree trunks holding up the hangings. Terra stared at the hangings, marveling at the fine detail that had missed her before. The hangings were expertly placed, every fold and wrinkle looking like a tree branch.
The room was quite astounding, with a plain, grey couch that would seat four, and a wooden table in the middle of the room with four, elegantly carved chairs. A large window that went from floor to ceiling let the early morning sun pour in. The ceiling was about twice as far up as a regular doorway, and there was an elegantly carved, oval shaped door that reached to the size of a ruler, and another door that would be perfect for someone her size. But the thing that surprised Terra the most was that there were three other beds like hers, but in different colors, and her bed seemed to be the far right of row. The beds, including hers, were placed in a row, and all the beds had their backs on the window. She got out of bed to have a look at those other strange beds, momentarily being astounded again by the beautiful countryside that was laid out before her like a map. She tore herself away from the scene, promising herself that she would take a look at that after she had finished looking at the beds and her new clothes. Still, she stared at it for a few seconds. There was a great forest directly outside the grounds, purple snow-capped mountains on the horizon, and not much else except for the grounds which were large, but just grass and the occasional tree, and some rectangular fenced in areas with no grass.
The one on the far left was a deep shade of blue, with light aqua colored hangings. Terra was curious if there was a pattern on this bed’s hangings and there was, an ocean wave. The detail of it was amazing, and Terra could basically hear the foam splashing, and found herself waiting for the final crash that would have meant the wave had landed. She shivered, and moved on to the middle bed, that was a subtle crimson. The pattern here was a fire, flaming, and seemingly flickering and Terra found herself in an almost state of alarm that the fire was going to eat up the bed and the room. The next bed was white, and the pattern seemed to be a delicate breeze dancing, and was what wind would look like if it could be a solid form. Terra almost felt the breeze playing and gently toying with her hair. The patterns were comforting, familiar things in this different place. But I guess that these things could be found anywhere. Terra was nonetheless comforted. A wave of unexpected weariness crashed into her like the ocean wave that she had seen in one of the patterns, and she stumbled back into her bed. She was blacking out even as she dragged herself into the bed. She was able to wrap herself in the blankets before blacking out entirely. Her last thought was confusion on why she felt so sleepy.
