Korean Lesson #3 (FINALLY!!!)
by Jane L. (Age: 14)
copyright 12-07-2005

Age Rating: 1 to 127

Ok! Time to teach you the Korean alphabet! For those who can't see, SORRY! If you can't see it than click your right mouse button and then click on encoding. Then you can see Korean. YOu click on that and then you might be able to see it. BUT! Some computers are so stupid that they only let you see English or they need a software so.. ^^
I put the letter and then below the letter I put the letter name and then what kind of sound it makes.

The consentants
ㄱ ㄴ ㄷ ㄹ ㅁ
(gee-uhk)(nee-uhn)(dee-guht)(lee-uhll)(mee-um)
(gh) (n) (d) (l) (m)

ㅂ ㅅ ㅇ ㅈ ㅊ
(bee-uhb)(shee-oht)(ee-uhng) (jee-uht) (chee-uht)
(b) (sh) (no sound) (j) (ch)

ㅋ ㅌ ㅍ ㅎ
(khee-uht)(tee-guht)(pee-uhb)(hee-uhg)
(k) (t) (p) (h)

The vowels
ㅏ ㅑ ㅓ ㅕ ㅗ
(ah) (yah) (uh) (yuh) (oh)
(ah) (yah) (uh) (yuh) (oh)

ㅛ ㅜ ㅠ ㅡ ㅣ
(yo) (oo like in cook)(you) (ueh) (e long)

Okay you probaly don't understand it and for those who can't see this, you can just skip this lesson.

In Korean we don't write it like separately. We put them together and write them. Like 안녕(hello). You just pronounce the letters from the top to the left then down. So.. those letters that I wrote is pronounced AHN- YOUNG. Get it? I wish i could record my voice and then show you but I don't think its allowed. I'll give you more words that are typed in Korean.

1. 나무 (Tree)

2. 나비 (butterfly)

3. 시 (poem)

4. 소 (cow)

5. 오리 (duck)

6. 소리 (sound)

7. 여자 (girl)

8. 아기 (baby)

9. 미소 (smile)

10. 머리 (hair)

11. 바다 (ocean)

12. 유리 (glass)

These are easy words. There are harder ones below

13. 라면 (can't tell because that gives away the answer)

14. 학교 (school)

15. 이름 (name)

16. 그림 (picture)

17. 미술 (art)

18. 소금 (salt)

19. 설탕 (sugar)

20. 사람 (person)

21. 사랑 (love)

22. 기린 (giraffe)

These are a little harder than the ones before.

23. 자정거 (bicycle)

24. 도서관 (library)

25. 화장실 (bathroom)

26. 색연필 (color pencils)

27. 자동차 (car)

28. 만화 (can't say because it will give it away)

30. 일기장 (diary)

People that can do the ones below are geniuses!

31. 좋아 (like)

32. 싫어 (hate)

33. 닭 (chicken)

If you solved them out, give me a email with the number and pronounciation and I'll give you some points! Its to complicated to explain it.

Hi Jane!
I right clicked and did as you described in your e-mail and it worked! I can now see the Korean letters perfectly. Thanks a lot! Maybe you should describe how to do that in your lesson for people who can't see the letters properly.
Thanks again for the info and the cool lesson.

This seemed like a cool lesson. Unfortunately, I was unable to read the Korean letters.
