I sit in silent wonder.
Do you know?
How could I ever tell you?
That every dream I have,
I silently hope could be with you.
That every shy smile you give,
I wish would be for me alone.
Sometimes I slip,
I get caught staring,
revelling in the totality that is
you.
The intoxicating aura,
the beauty.
I'll tell you that you're amazing,
receive that awkward smile,
and I'll laugh,
covering it up,
telling you I'm jealous.
Hoping you don't catch on.
I know that it would never work--
you and I, that is.
You have your life, your path...
and niether of us are ready for
the commitment I could give to you.
And I can tell,
when I look in your eyes,
that should it be now,
should you decide the feelings were shared,
It would wind up as all
romances at our age do,
and I would lose not just a lover,
but a friend worth more than gold.
But that doesn't stop me from feeling.
Watching from afar,
Filled with timid love
that makes me smile
when I hear your name.
And it doesn't stop me from hoping,
that when I find that girl
who I can spend forever with
that she may be,
somehow,
you.
And niether of us have
realized it yet....
