Four Triolets

~1~

Grandfather Clocks

Grandfather clocks are alarming things
Between all their timely tic tocs
They stand like towers for banished kings
Grandfather clocks are alarming things
They have no sleep buttons nor mellow rings
Their boomings knock off your socks
Grandfather clocks are alarming things
Between all their timely tic tocs

~2~

Christmas Boxes

Christmas comes but once a year
Leaves quicker than hounds and foxes
So eat and drink and be of good cheer
Christmas comes but once a year
When presents are opened, one question is clear
What's to be done with all those damn boxes?
Christmas comes but once a year
Leaves quicker than hounds and foxes

~3~

Mosquitoes

Mosquitoes are an agitation
A minute deadly force
The most devilish bugs in creation
Mosquitoes are an agitation
A blood-sucking source of frustration
Never showing any remorse
Mosquitoes are an agitation
A minute deadly force

Whenever You Cry

I long to hold your head in my lap
When life breaks your heart, whenever you cry
Whenever life hands you a stinging slap
I long to hold your head in my lap
Whenever you feel each day is a trap
Needing someone to wipe your eyes dry
I long to hold your head in my lap
When life breaks your heart, whenever you cry

Congratulations on winning the contest!

I have only read these twice, and already they are sounding like stories from long agao. Ageless; classical; amusing; a warm blanket.

dramatic changes in my head, my adrenolin rushing, my body frozen, emotions overflowing with no where to run, time stood still for just a moment, and then continued in a hurried rush as if it were late for it's next appointed moment, floods of memories, childhood, reflexion, nastalgia, and finally finding comfort in a freindly gesture. Great write, good job, thanks,

I loved all three. I laughed when I read, "What's to be done with all those damn boxes?" I thought was funny. I can't choose which one I liked the best, but if I had to, I would say, Whenever You Cry. I loved that one.

I just tried a triolet myself and it's difficult to keep it from sounding too repetitive and to make the reader "feel" it... I think anyway. Your last of the three posted here definitely brought a smile to my face. Very good work and I'm glad you are part of our PNP family... we are truly blessed!

These are really good and really well written. I've also noticed that this style of writing is pretty unique and makes the poems very catchy!

Out of the three though I think I like "Whenever you Cry" the best because it has a lot of emotion running through it. Anywho, keep up the good work!

What is this literary style? Does it have a name?
I really like it and you have done a good job with these. I would like to give this form a try.
Let me know the name of it so I can look it up and study it.
