Love

Love

At times we travel hurriedly
Trampling foot over heel
Unnoticed to the subtleties
Of folks that never heal

Time forever changing
Left behind some tears
Smiles anew in love
In merry child-like cheers

But love is not a lifetime
It ends with much despair
Take hold of flowers blooming
A space in time to share

Alas, the youth of love
Novel knight of daily clamor
Imbedded in the heart
Is the javelin that pierces armor!

I agree with jean. This is wonderfully done and very good. I think you've captured love from the present and past with your words. once again a very wonderful poem.

Excellently written. With joy comes pain and you have painted the picture quite well.

I liked this poem, Roger. I like the fact that you are using different forms and trying different styles in your writing...it keeps you, as a poet, fresh and interesting. I particularly like the last two verses. Appreciating flowers while in bloom is an apt metaphor for enjoying 'love' while it lasts and I like the idea of 'sharing a space in time' even if only for a little while....The last verse is a terrific lyrical description of romantic infatuation and the highs and lows that it brings....It seems that what most people think of as 'love' turns out to be infatuation instead...So much hurt could be avoided if we ever learned to tell the difference.

It is true that sometimes love is not lasting, but if you work on it, it can last a long time! I hope mine lasts the rest of my life! Thanks, Anthony
