Oh, the hurting
the hurting that comes with a goodbye
Like a blind rodent
gnawing at painted walls
A multitude of hopes whirling
draining into nothingness
A tornado of love that disappears
with every hurtful word
Into the blackness of the unconscious
goes the slippery tears that shape pain
Into oblivion go the phrases
that once shaped an unending love that has ended
If only memories would last forever
I would not need to forget you
For I have tasted honey
In a valley full of salt!
Farewell, my love
Know that I will forget you
I will forget those fiery amber eyes
But only when my eyes are permanently shut
only when my soul expires its last breath!

Roger, this is very touching. It conveys the full meaning of it's title. We have all experienced hurt in our lives at some point or another, how you convey the experience is remarkable.
Roger, this is very nice. It shows a lot of emotion and hurt; just what you were going for, I guess. However, I don't understand the phrase, "Like a blind rodent gnawing at painted walls". Maybe you could explain that part to me; you know me, I don't pick up on some of these things easily.
